Weekend coffee #50.
So, I thought was I going to catch a break these last two weeks of the year, but apparently I was fooling myself. Feels like I’ll be working up until the very last moment of 2019. Not complaining, just amazed at that people keep plugging away. And frankly, here’s hoping next year is as successful. Otherwise, I’m all done with Christmas shopping and am moving on to wrapping presents and sending out cards. Here’s what else I’m thinking about:
This Prince Christmas song. I totally forgot about it until it came up in a conversation about depressing holiday songs. I was vying for Robyn’s cover of “Last Christmas” as the winner but turns out I was wrong.
Applauding the team at New York Magazine for moving to unionize. How we consume media continues to change and without fairly compensated journalists, we risk losing access to quality content all together.
Speaking of, this article made me ROFL. As an avid podcast listener, I often feel berated by the advertising for most of these brands and products. Turns out, they don’t solve all of life’s problems.
Though hardly an Ariana Grande fan, I did enjoy “Thank U, Next” and the video. As a follow up, here’s a full feminist analysis that explores the choice of films and references. I didn’t know I needed it until right now.
Who exactly do we mean when we say ‘we?’ A persistent issue, even in some of my own assignments. Some speak to a clear audience, others become sweeping generalizations that don’t serve anyone.
I’m in the market for a new pair of low, black boots after trashing my last ones. Thinking about this classic Rachel Comey style or these No. 6 buckle boots.
That’s all for now. Until next weekend (when I’ll be a year older and none the wiser, I’m sure).
