Greetings, hi, hello.

Welcome to my site. This is where I showcase my work and write about this thing called life. Enjoy!

Bathroom reno.

If I'm being totally honest, the bathroom has been done for well, a couple of months. Done as in, our builder finished up the work and I've been procrastinating ever since. But see, there's a reason why I was dragging my feet - two, actually - the shower curtain and the art. Remember this post? Yeah, none of those options worked. As for the shower curtain, I let Jesse pick between my two top choices and he chose wrong. Sorry, Jess. By the time I went back for the other one, it was sold out. Tough life, I know.

So here's a look at the before:

Since this is the only full bath in the house, it's an important room. What this picture doesn't show is a giant chunk missing from the pedestal sink, busted fan, cracked floor tiles, a loose toilet, stripped shower handles and more. Lots of minor issues that made for a less than ideal experience. Fast forward to now. We took the room down the studs, discovered floor to ceiling wainscotting, a mud tile wall sans tiles, extra space behind the toilet and shower and of course, old pipes. Once everything was up-to-date, we put in all new fixtures and tile, adequate lighting and ventilation, fresh paint and of course, accessories. This is where we landed:

The walls are Benjamin Moore Moonshine, floors are matte black 2" hexagon tiles and the bath is standard white subway that goes up onto the ceiling. Gained space by replacing the pedestal sink with a cabinet and granite counter top. Below the shelves is our winning piece of art, a print Darren Magee of Real Fun, Wow! Shower curtain is this peacock chair work by Lara Lee Meintjes that I got from Society6. End result is a warmer, happier space. Now I just need another plant or twelve.
