Greetings, hi, hello.

Welcome to my site. This is where I showcase my work and write about this thing called life. Enjoy!

2019 gift guide.

2019 gift guide.

Provided you didn’t finish all of your shopping during the last week of sales, here are some additional ideas to get your prepared for the upcoming gift-giving. Last year, I went by the person, and while most of those ideas still stand, this year, I’m going to suggest some small businesses, favorite brands and charities you could support. Here goes:

  • If you’re giving back, I recommend Rancho Relaxo, a non-profit animal rescue organization. Also, America’s Grow a Row, Committee to Protect Journalists or the National Alliance to End Homelessness. When in doubt, check Charity Navigator.

  • If you’re looking to buy, consider Pact or Jungmaven for sustainable clothing items ranging from leggings and sweats to dresses and rompers. Pact focuses on organic cotton, while Jungmaven puts its emphasis on hemp.

  • There's Bread & Water Printshop for cool tees, patches, pins and more. My Jenny Holzer-inspired “Abuse of Power Comes as No Surprise” tote bag is a big hit with the TSA when I travel. There are even options for the Springsteen fan in your life.

  • Check out Flora & Fauna Jewelry OR Mercury Hour for rings and other beautiful things. I happen to have known both of these makers in an earlier life (weird flex, but OK) and fully support their aesthetic and work ethic - you should too.

  • I like Biossance for skincare needs. I’ve been using their probiotic gel moisturizer for a few years and like almost everything I’ve tried from this brand, including the lip balm that came with a recent purchase.

  • For bath bombs, body butter and like, go for Witch Baby Soap (based in New Jersey). Everything is vegan and cruelty-free, with an occult theme - there’s the option to pre-order their next quarterly subscription box for delayed gratification.

  • The School of Life offers gifts related to themes such as self-knowledge, love, work, calm, friendship and culture. Based in London, their online shop delivers worldwide with free U.S. shipping on orders over $75.

  • And for homemade gifts, I advocate strongly for baking things, like these Pistachio Ricotta Cookies, Salted Caramel Pretzel Blondies, Chocolate Chip Cookies with Tahini or even Deep Dish Apple Crumble Pie. Dessert knows no season.

Happy holidays!
