Weekend coffee #74.
Suffering from short week syndrome but psyched on going to see Bikini Kill tonight in NYC. Like so many aimless young teenagers, my first foray into their music was through their compilation aptly titled “The Singles.” The internet tells me that came out in June 1998 which sounds about right, because I can remember listening to it on a family road trip when I was 13. We didn’t do many more after I reached high school and the band had already broken up by the time it came out. So here’s my chance to finally see them live and relive all those angst-ridden moments played out from the back seat of car, Discman in hand. Girl to the front.
Here’s a quick look at everything else I’m thinking about this week:
Also looking forward to digging into this New York magazine cover story, which arrived yesterday.
“Stuyshwick.” Seven years after leaving and the idea that this neighbor is getting hip cracked me up.
Life surprises me on a weekly basis. And that aforementioned teen never would have imagined any of this.
Specifically, my own quirky old house that I recently heard from a neighbor belonged to a “gambler” in the 1920s.
That’s all for now. Until next time - thanks for following along.
