Weekend coffee #86.
Feels like everyone I talked to this week said something to the effect of “summer is over.” And while I disagree (September being the best beach month of all), there is definitely a shift starting to take place. I’m not sure if it’s attitude or environmental though. I could probably lament the reasons why (political climate, the Amazon burning, etc.) and maybe even make a decent argument or two, but it’s the weekend and we don’t need to rehash all of that. Call it escapism if you want..if that’s even possible anymore. With that in mind, here’s what I’ve been reading and thinking about this week:
Roasted Falafel-Spiced Tofu with Whipped Tahini. Mmm, falafel. They actually opened a Mamoun’s down here recently and I have yet to go. Maybe I’ll make this recipe instead of driving the 10 minutes south.
I think I linked to Shirley Mason on Design Matters awhile back. She’s brilliant and fascinating and I’m excited to check out her podcast. Been feeling a bit of listening fatigue lately so hopefully this will cure that.
As the climate warms up, cool summer evenings are becoming a distant memory. This one hits close to home. I’m a mile from the shore and block from a lake, in an house without air conditioning, built in 1923.
Might need an HBO Max subscription (or someone’s login…) for this Practical Magic prequel series. It’s a favorite movie from childhood and I actually read the book sometime in the last year or two. What can I say, I’m a sucker for nostalgia.
Shameless plug: I started reading the Morning Brew newsletter a few months back. It’s quickly become a personal favorite and quite frankly how I get my news in the morning, now that I can’t stand to read mainstream outlets. You should subscribe.
Thinking about buying this sweater for fall, if I could just remember my Madewell password. Hello, password recovery? Could you actually send through that email that I’ve requested about 17 times?
That’s all for now - until next time, thanks for following along.
