Weekend coffee #108.
Just when I thought 2020 couldn’t get any crazier, I got a sneak peek at February. It’s going to be an all work, very little play month, which I suspect might be the theme for the year if I don’t start making some changes. I did book one escape for early March, but it still seems so far away. Until then, here’s what’s occupying at least some of my mind:
Apparently, astrocartography is a thing? As someone who has moved a lot, it sort of blows my mind that I’ve stayed in the New York-New Jersey area this long. Heck, I’ve been in my house for more than seven years. Does that mean I’m supposed to be here? Maybe the stars know?
How To Make Every Job A Good Union Job. Admittedly, I didn’t have a lot of knowledge about unions until I married a union electrician. I’ve learned quickly, and while I don’t agree with the way they handle certain situations, I definitely think there’s a possible benefit for today’s labor markets.
The 30-something life crisis. I’m linking to this article not because I agree with everything it says, though some of it does resonate. I’m linking to it because it’s inspired me to track down the show thirtysomething and add it to my queue. Has anyone else watched it?
But speaking of life crises, here’s a list of reasons for burnout. What I like about the post is that the author indicates they “spent some time (with help) looking at what parts of my burnout were on me and what parts were outside of my control.” How often do we even understand the issue?
I reference Colossal pretty often considering how frequently they post, but that’s because when they do, it’s awesome. At least that’s what I thought of these airplane window landscapes (can you tell I’m a window seat person?).
Also worth your time:
The Estate of Mr. Peanut. RIP.
This house makes me wish I liked skiing.
That’s all for now. Until next time - thanks for following along!
